Description

Haus amAmaro Drom e.V. and Haus am Maiberg (www.haus-am-maiberg.de) currently opened a call for applications for young people to participate in a European Voluntary Service (EU Youth in Action program) project in Heppenheim, Germany. The 12 months lasting project offers diverse learning and service opportunities including carrying out international youth meetings, expert exchanges and trainings. Working with international youth, the volunteer will have the opportunity to see how much one can learn being part of an interpersonal and intercultural dialogue. The volunteers engage weekly around 30-35 hours.

Typical tasks are helping in the realization of meetings, e.g. facilitating and moderating sessions of non-formal education in small groups, presenting program, organizing group games, administrative help in preparing seminars, e.g. designing flyers and invitations, putting up participant lists, taking care of youth groups that are in HaM during the seminars as well as in their free time (e.g. giving information about HaM, preparing information boards and additional activities), preparing educational materials and conference rooms, helping to communicate with partner organizations from Poland, Russia, France, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria and Romania, and helping with other organizational tasks, e.g. guest rooms, reception. The program encourages volunteers to express and to realize their own ideas and initiatives during the service!

The program is fully covered, providing room (apartment inside the center), board, health insurance, language course, monthly regional train ticket and monthly pocket money. The volunteer will be provided with 2 Youth in Action seminars during the service, and 2 international Phiren Amenca seminars.

The call for applications is open for young people between 18 and 30 years who are residents of EU countries. Knowledge of English and German, at least at a basic level and furthermore, the willingness to learn both languages are expected. For further questions do not hesitate to contact us.

Haus am Maiberg is a center for political and social education that organizes and carries out seminars, conferences, workshops and youth meetings that encourage active citizenship and openness to dialogue with people of various origins, political affiliations, religions, and cultures. The facilitators of the center work with non-formal education methods to promote self-reflection, interaction and participation.

Our main focus is the socio-cultural youth work, the strengthening of self-initiative, mobilization, networking and self-esteem of young Roma and their political and social participation. As young Europeans we actively want to contribute to society for more acceptance and respect, mutual understanding and inclusion. We are members of ternYpe International Roma Youth Network and of Phiren Amenca, a network of Roma and non-Roma volunteers and voluntary service organizations creating opportunities for non-formal education, dialogue and engagement, in order to
