Mashkar Kehilot projekt második képzéshétvége / second training weekend

_DSC0113b

A második képzést januárban tartottuk, erről olvashatjátok két résztvevő beszámolóját:

Kiléptem a pesti kis buborékból. Izgatottan vártam, hogy mi lesz a következő hétvégén. A projekt hétvégén, amikor tényleg valamit tenni fogunk. A 3 napos program egy kora esti szombatfogadással kezdődött. A roma résztvevők nagy része most látott életében zsidó szertartást először. A szombat reggelt ráhangolóddással kezdtük, játékok, zene, reggeli. Utána már csak a neheze volt hátra. Felépíteni a semmiből a projektjeinket. Kaptunk kis segítséget azzal kapcsolatban, hogyan is kezdjünk neki, hogyan osszuk be a lépéseinket, de nagyjából egyedül maradtunk ettől a ponttól.

Sziasztok!

Egy igen érdekes rendezvényről tartok nektek beszámolót. A Phiren Amenca programjáról.

In the framework of our project, we run trainings for Roma Jewis and non-Roma/Jewish participants. Their goal is to get to know each other, to strengthen the unity between these communities, to stand up against antisemitism, antigypsism, and to support the participants in realising their own projects. The first training was held in December: https://phirenamenca.eu/mashkar-kehilot-project-elso-talalkozo-decemberben-first-meeting-in-december/ The next one was in January, you can read two of the participants’ reports below:

It has been two months since I participated the previous training, but my memories are still vivid. That weekend opened my eyes, and even though I didn’t become more active to better the world, I saw a bit more clearly. I exited my little bubble. I was excited about the next weekend. The project weekend, when we could actually do something that matters. The 3 day long programme started with a Shabbat ceremony. For most of the Roma participants, it was the first time to see a Jewish ceremony. And for me it was the first time participating as an outsider, we all learned something. Tomi gave an introduction to the Shabbat ceremony, we learned about the Jewish theory of afterlife (there is no such thing). We also learned why the synagogue is not a Jewish church. But most importantly, I found out that one of the contestants of “Csillag születik” (a Hungarian talent show) got to the 5th place by singing Ose Shalom which was such a racy anecdote, I still haven’t looked up if it’s true or not. The participant didn’t even know what he was singing, but now he does, and I didn’t know that these lyrics, this song is known outside of our Jewish subculture, now I do.

Saturday morning started with an introduction, games, music and breakfast. What came after that was the harder part. Building up our projects. We got a little help in how we should start the process, what are the steps, but apart from that, we had to work on them by ourselves. Each team had a mentor and loads of time to fill an empty paper with their ideas. Then we came up with some ideas, there will be a monthly Roma magazine, the participants from Bátonyterenye will put new life into the Saturdays of the youth of their town, the people from Pécs will educate high school students about the Roma holocaust, and us, we will organise a gipsy Shabbat in Moshe house, and will create a reality show-blog with the help of the organisation called RISE to advertise higher education. Our task for the next two months is to make these action happen, and to help each other to achieve our goals we proposed during the weekend.

My review is about a truly interesting event I participated. It is a program organised by Phiren Amenca. Benjámin Nyizsnik (president of RISE organisation) invited me to join, and told me not to miss it, because I can learn a lot from it. We left the region Nógrád to travel to Budapest on the 27th of January 2017. On the day of our arrival, we went to a Synagogue, where Jewish people held their service, and we got the chance to join in a building that embodies completely different traditions and culture from ours. This may not mean anything to many people, but for me it was something I have never attended before, and therefore it was special! The same night we had dinner in an elegant reastaurant which was financed by Phiren Amenca for every participant of the program. Our accommodation was in a great hostel, near to great bars and other institutions.

Saturday was full of exciting activities. To begin with, we started with an all you can eat breakfast. The first activity was sort of a panel discussion, where we discussed many topics, and we introduced ourselves, had some conversations on different topics, then we organised ourselves to small groups where we worked more or less with people we barely knew. As I saw it, the program had 2 main goals. On was (inherently the goal of this whole program) to deal with discrimination and the other was to get to know each other.

The program ended on Sunday after lunch in a very decent restaurant. My personal opinion is that I highly recommend participating, because you can get many things out of it. I really enjoyed myself, and I think I can speak for all the participants. As a product of the weekend, each team came up with a project they will realize. There were better and better ideas, which were all to reduce prejudices. The project-management tools we learned throughout the weekend were big help in coming up with our ideas. We are very enthusiastic and happy to realize them and we are excited to work on it.
