Amaro Drom e.V. advocating for human rights

Amaro Drom e.V. and Roma Büro Freiburg currently opened a call for applications for young people to participate in a European Voluntary Service (EU Erasmus+ program) project in Freiburg. The 12 months lasting project offers diverse learning and service opportunities including national and international seminars. The volunteers engage weekly around 30-35 hours in the activities of the organization.

Typical tasks could be support of the computer shop, supporting the group for young women, assisting in the development and implementation of cultural events like the „Advent of the migrants“, office work, and supporting youth projects. The program encourages volunteers to express and to realize their own ideas and initiatives during the service!

The program is fully covered, providing room, board, health insurance, monthly ticket for local transport, language course and monthly pocket money. Volunteers will be provided with 2 EU Erasmus+ program seminars in Germany during their service, and 2 international Phiren Amenca seminars.

The call for applications is open for young people between 18 and 30 years who are residents of EU countries. For further questions do not hesitate to contact us.

Roma Büro Freiburg e.V

The main focus of activity of Roma Büro Freiburg e.V. is the empowerment of young Roma to facilitate their participation in society in the current situation of common and parallel worlds. As young Europeans we want to contribute to a colorful future Europe of freedom through tolerance, respect, joy and international understanding. Therefore we focus especially on the education and formation of young Roma who should become mediators in a diverse European society.

Our office which is in contact with Amaro Drom on the national level works in the following spheres on local and regional level: counseling for the Roma community in all issues of life; public contact point for social workers, welfare organizations, schools; projects aiming at self-organization and job qualification; mobile bike and computer shop offering qualification; development and formation in the musical section, support of mentorships for high school students; intercultural projects and event addressing questions of Sinti and Roma; intercultural parties, opening nights of exhibitions in series in different places with our bands, intercultural summer youth camp.

„Amaro Drom” is an intercultural self-organization of young Roma and non-Roma . Our main focus is the socio-cultural youth work, the strengthening of self-initiative, mobilization, networking and self-esteem of young Roma and their political and social participation. As young Europeans we actively want to contribute to society for more acceptance and respect, mutual understanding and inclusion. We are members of ternYpe International Roma Youth Network and of Phiren Amenca, a network of Roma and non-Roma volunteers and voluntary service organizations creating opportunities for non-formal education, dialogue and engagement, in order to challenge stereotypes and racism. www.amarodrom.de.
