Open Call for young Roma: Voluntary Service in Germany

Deadline: March 15, 2014 (apply as soon as possible*)[hr]

Description

evangelische

Phiren Amenca opens a call for applications for young people to participate in a social voluntary service in various placements around Germany through the organization Evangelische Freiwilligendienste (Protestant voluntary services). The 12 months lasting project offers diverse learning and service opportunities including national and international seminars. The volunteers engage weekly around 30-38 hours in Evangelische Freiwilligendienste in social and church projects.

The Evangelische Freiwilligendienste understand the voluntary service as a year of social orientation and education. Young people are being offered the possibility to get to know new countries, cultures and people through their service. Apart from the idea of understanding among cultures the personal development of each individual is a priority.

The program covers all the expenses of the volunteer in Germany, providing room, board, health insurance, and monthly pocket money. Travel costs and visa costs normally have to be covered by the volunteer. Volunteers will be provided with national seminars in Germany during their service and 2 international Phiren Amenca seminars. This project is financed by the programs of the German government: „Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr” (Voluntary Social Year), and „Bundesfreiwilligendienst” (National Voluntary Service).

The call for applications is open for young people between 18 and 30 years who are residents of EU and non-EU countries. Basic knowledge of English or German is expected. For further questions do not hesitate to contact us.

Description of the hosting organization

Evangelische Freiwilligendienste gGmbH is the Federal office of the cooperation of protestant responsible bodies of the Voluntary Social Year with currently 48 members who are operating on a regional as well as federal level. At the same time the office carries out the Diakonisches Jahr im Ausland (DJiA, Diaconal Year Abroad), which represents the common international programme of the group of responsible bodies. Through this we present young applicants aged between 18 and 30 educational opportunities which do not depend on their level of education or denomination. By their voluntary commitment in social and / or church projects and by the accompanying pedagogical offers the young people have the opportunity to further develop their personality, to gather experience in the world of employment and to decide about their own professional career. They deal with other cultures and at the same time reflect their own background, they increase their own social competences (e.g. the ability to communicate, cooperate, give & receive criticism, deal with conflicts, work in a team), and they meet other young people in different situations of life and their own social and cultural contexts. All this is connected with a voluntary work in a diaconal/social field and corresponds to the wishes and ideas of the young people.  http://www.ev-freiwilligendienste.de/
