Phiren Amenca and Roma Active Albania (RAA), currently opened a call for applications for young people between 18 and 30 years to participate in a European Voluntary Service (Erasmus+ program) project in Tirana. The 10 months lasting project (March – December 2015), offers diverse learning and service opportunities including national and international seminars, and active involvement in the Roma youth groups and networks in Albania. The volunteers engage weekly around 30-35 hours in the working fields intercultural youth work, empowerment and mobilization of Roma youth by assisting the Roma youth network in their activities (street actions, conferences, public debates, creative actions), supporting trainings, seminars and grassroots activities, conducting researches and case studies, promoting EVS in local communities, writing articles for websites and publicity, contributing to the development of RAA website, campaigning in ROMA REACT.

The volunteers will be able to develop their personal, social and professional skills through non formal and in formal learning by being mentored and super-vised, having the possibility to accompany, observe and support their colleagues and local peers during their work and activities and finally through creating and realizing their own projects. Their roles and responsibilities will be shaped according to their needs and interests and in constant exchange between volunteer, hosting and sending organisation before and during the EVS. The volunteers will be supported by a mentor and a personal supervisor in constant reflection of their learning process and will be encouraged to regular reporting their learning achievements also to each other in oral and written form. The program encourages volunteers to express and to realize their own ideas and initiatives during the service.

To secure the constant development of language skills besides the initial language course every volunteer will be able to practise their Albanian with a local volunteer as personal “tandem partner”. Beyond that, international and local volunteers will work together as a team during the whole EVS and develop a joined activity to learn from each other and for mutual support.

PARTICIPANTS PROFILE

The call for applications is open for young Roma and non Roma people between 18 and 30 years who are residents of Italy, Germany and Hungary. We are especially welcoming people who are motivated to engage for our mission to challenge stereotypes, antigypsyism and racism, and who show an open attitude for a unique learning and life experience, as well as a volunteer spirit of creativity, initiative, responsibility and independence.
