Volunteer for 12 months in 2017-2018 (starting February 2017) with Diocesan Caritas

Diocesan Caritas and Phiren Amenca opened a call for applications for young Roma and non-Roma between 18 and 30 years to participate in a European Voluntary Service (EU Erasmus+ program) project in the Czech Republic.
The project will take place in Ostrava , in the third biggest city of the Czech Republic. The volunteer will do his/her service in two low threshold facilities in which he/she will work with Roma children and youth (age between 3-19) from socially excluded areas of Ostrava. The volunteer will prepare workshops and leisure time activities for children. The volunteer will also participate in trips held by the centers and events organized by the charity and a volunteer will be also engaged in daily activities of the centers.
Tasks of the volunteers:
– Support and assistance in providing of social services in the organization (preschool for instance);
– express your initiatives (ideas, creative activity, etc.);
– preparation and creation of periodical activities with children (art, activities according to the topic of the month, activities in preschool club, etc.);
– daily assistance and daily trips;
– preparing for clubs;
– help and assistance with daily activities;
– tutoring (mainly English), involvement in cooking and other activities;
– assistance with community organizing, cultural and social events for clients;
– assistance in the office, administrative work, web news, etc.;
– PR and visibility.
The volunteer will work six hours per day and he/she can join a trip once a month. We expect from the volunteer that he/she will be active, open and friendly, and the organisation will try its best to support the volunteer as well. The work is focused on leisure activities with children: help with preparation of activities, help with daily preparations of clubs, participation in trips of the centers and events of the charity. We also expect that the volunteer will prepare his/her own activities through workshops. We are open to volunteer´s ideas and we can adjust project according to it.
Diocesan Caritas hosts two volunteers each year. The volunteers will live in a reconstructed flat directly in charity headquarter so they are almost in daily contact with coordinator. The flat is fully equiped (fridge,microwave, beds, wifi…) and contains 2 rooms (one for each volunteer), a kitchen and a bathroom. The flat is situated in the city center, 5-10 minutes by trolleybus from the centers where volunteers will work.
The program is fully covered, providing room, board, health insurance, monthly ticket for local transport, language course and monthly pocket money. Volunteers will be provided with 2 national seminars in Czech Republic during their service, and 2 international Phiren Amenca seminars.
