People in Need Slovakia is looking for volunteers from Hungary to participate in the EVS project F.A.M.E (Feeling as a Mean of Education) to serve for one year starting in June 2018 in 5 locations around Slovakia. Check out the information below!
A szlovák People in Need szervezet Magyarországi önkénteseket keres 12 hónapos, hosszútávú szolgálatra 2018 júniusától 2019 májusáig.
Az önkéntesek gyerekekkel és fiatalokkal fognak dolgozni roma közösségekben, a szervezet közösségi központjaiban, Szlovákia különböző pontjain.
Tevékenységek:
A közösségi központok életében, tevékenységeiben és azok tervezésében való aktív részvétel.
– A tevékenységek bent, vagy a szabadban valósulnak meg, ilyenek például a gyerekklub, mentorálás, zenei-, művészeti- és sport programok.
– Az önkéntesek mindig a központok egy-egy alkalmazottjával, vagy szociális munkásával dolgoznak együtt.
– További tevékenységek például kiránulások, panelbeszélgetések, előadások, stb.
– Ezeken kívül, a fiatalok igényeitől függően az önkéntesek mentorálják is őket egy szakember vezetésével. Segítenek a házi feladatok megírásában, módszertani játékokat használnak. Az nagyobb gyerekek esetében a mentorálás konkrét, az iskolában kapott feladatokban való segítségnyújtást jelent, akár matematikából vagy idegen nyelvből, informatikai eszközök használatából.
– Az önkéntes feladata ezen tevékenységek önálló, kreatív tervezése és kivitelezése.

Who are we looking for?
Volunteers, who will take part in the project will work in our community centers in challenging but very enriching environment of socially-disadvantaged Roma communities.
What are the requirements?
We search for long term (12-months) volunteers motivated to work with children and youngsters mostly from Roma communities in our community centers all around Slovakia. The mobility lasts 12 months.
Mission of volunteers:
– the main task of the volunteer would be to actively participate in, and possibly plan, the activities realized by the centre
– activities of the community centres are indoor or outdoor activities (preliminary club, tutoring, music/art/sport…)
– the volunteer would always work with a professional from the community centre, or a social worker of the centre.
– additional activities are considered to be an inseparable part of the Centre´s program. They include mainly trips, talks, meetings with guests, etc.
– educational activities include tutoring, depending on the needs of individuals, with assistance of a professional. The volunteer´s task would be help with homework (writing, reading), work with methodic educational equipment (cards with syllables, word creation). Concerning older children, it would be direct help with tasks that are discussed at school, whether it´s math or foreign language. Education in the use of the PC – Internet, e-mail, Word, etc are mainly for older children
– the volunteer´s task would be independent leading of those activities, creative planning of the program and tasks for the participants.
– after-school activities involve active courses – sports, dance, singing, musical Instruments, educational courses – PC, foreign language, practical skills, creative workshops on various topics…

Location:
All 5 community centers are open – candidate can suggest his/her preference, however, we try to locate the volunteers after interviews and the needs of the local centers. The hosting organization provides accommodation, food and pocket money, health insurance, covers travel cost to Slovakia and back in the begining and in the end of the service and supportss local transportation.
