The ‘Voices of Resistance’ online campaign invites every young Roma to testify their own resistance stories! Through this online campaign we want to empower young Roma people to share their good examples of staying active in such difficult times of crisis as well. Stay tuned, watch our videos and be part of our online resistance!
In this video you can learn about Sascha who is a Roma person living in Austria: “Hello my name is Sascha and For me it is very important to join campaigns like this because when I was a child I had to keep my Roma Identity secret from the people around me. My parents told me it would be safer, because people would discriminate against me. Because of the stigma that Roma are criminals and don’t want to fit in. Many years I was hiding my true identity and I feel sorry for that because these stigmas are not true. Today we know that – if we are given the chance to go to school and have equal rights we can live a normal and honest life. I want to bring positive pictures into the public so that my children will be proud to say that they are Roma. So let’s get started into a happy and proud future. For Romani people. Peace.”
The Voices of Resistance campaign is part of the Roma Youth Voices Project, coordinated by Phiren Amenca and funded by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme of the DG Justice, European Commission.
