Volunteer for 12 months in 2014-2015 (starting November 2014) in Pro Vitam Welfare Association

NevoParudimos and Phiren Amenca opened a call for applications for young people between 18 and 30 years to participate in a European Voluntary Service (EU Erasmus+ program) project in Resita, Romania. The project activities will take place in Resita, Caras-Severin County.
Resita is an old industrial city, which has around 80.000 inhabitants, including more than 5000 university students. The volunteering activities take part in medical ( recovering hospital and clinic) and in social (day centre) institutions.
The main objectives of the project are:
- To offer the possibility for volunteers to develop their creativity and PR abilities,
- To offer the opportunity for volunteers to make volunteering activities in the medical field and to promote volunteering and youth activities there,
- To develop volunteers capacity to create projects which to produce a change for the local community,
- To increase the awareness of young people regarding voluntary work and the involvement at local and regional level and to inform young people about the volunteering opportunities.
TASK OF THE VOLUNTEER
In first 2 months volunteers getting to know the NGO, the team and the local communities from Resita, getting familiar with the place where they will stay and volunteers will have a chance during their preparation period to take part in a Romanian language. In the next months will be dedicated to apply the activities prepared for the kids in the Day Center, Hospital and Policlinic, as well as the activities necessary for promoting volunteering and non-formal education among young people from Resita. It will be also daily meetings with the mentor, the person in charge of the volunteer’s welfare and to whom they can share their feelings and problems regarding the whole program or just how they feel.
The last month of the first cycle will be dedicated to ending the program as well as showing the new volunteers what the former ones have done while staying in Resita.
The volunteers can choose from 3 different working environment, task:
– Working in hospital and policlinic of Pro Vitam
Volunteers if possible with educational background in medical care, social experience in working with suffering patients. A volunteer can have also sport studies as the hospital and the policlinic have activities of recovering.
– Working with young people with disabilities, in the daily centre of Pro Vitam: volunteer should have some experience in non-formal education, willing to work with kids and young people from disadvantaged communities.
– Promotion of volunteering
PROFILE OF THE VOLUNTEER
- English knowledge, at least the minimum bases, to be able to communicate with the staff and the other volunteers,
- Minimum knowledge about working with computers, internet (e-mails, Office and Pdf., power point presentations),
- Able to work in a team and to live with other volunteers,
- To work at least 30 hours a week and to respect the working program of the hosting organization,
- To be available for the whole period of the project (12 months),
- To be open minded and sociable.
The program is fully covered, providing room, board, health insurance, monthly ticket for local transport, language course and monthly pocket money. Volunteers will be provided with 2 national seminars in Slovakia during their service, and 2 international Phiren Amenca seminars.
All volunteers will be hosted at the 1st floor of Pro Vitam Clinic, situated in a nice and quiet part of Resita City, close to the daily Centre, supermarkets, County Hospital, Museum, Shopping Centre and beautiful big parks.

Pro Vitam Welfare Association is a non-profit organization, established in 2003 under the Government Ordinance no. 26/2000, aimed at providing specialist community support, creating an infrastructure of social services for categories of persons at risk, social exclusion and linking education to labour market needs. The Association is approved as a provider of social services, health and home care, hospital services, training for adults and has developed several social projects and servicesby setting up pilot social centres in the Caras-Severin, namely: Home Care Unit, Pro Vitam Day Centre, Pro Vitam Neuromotor Recovery Centre, Shelter for victims of domestic violence “House Pro Vitam”, Respiro Pro Vitam Centre and Training Centre.
