EVS opportunity for Young Roma in City Station, Germany

Deadline July 31, 2014

Amaro Drom 1

Amaro Drom e.V. advocating for human rights

Amaro Drom e.V. and City Station currently opened a call for applications for young people to participate in a European Voluntary Service (EU Erasmus+ program) project in Berlin. The 12 months lasting project offers diverse learning and service opportunities including national and international seminars. The volunteers engage weekly around 30-35 hours in the City Station.

Typical tasks could be preparing the food for the evening or supporting the team giving food to the guests or communicating with them about their lives and needs. The main field of activity will be agreed on between the supervisor and the volunteers depending on the volunteer’s interests. We expect future volunteers to be open towards people with diverse backgrounds and difficult living situations, as well as living with other international and German volunteers in a Christian community organizing every-day life together. The program encourages volunteers to express and to realize their own ideas and initiatives during the service!

The program is fully covered, providing room, board, health insurance, monthly ticket for local transport, language course and monthly pocket money. Volunteers will be provided with 2 EU Erasmus+ program seminars in Germany during their service, and 2 international Phiren Amenca seminars.

The call for applications is open for young people between 18 and 30 years who are residents of an EU country. Basic knowledge of English or German is expected. For further questions do not hesitate to contact us.

Send your motivation letter, your CV and the Phiren Amenca application form until July 31st, 2014 to Iulia Blaga, Magdalena Jaschik and Merdjan Jakupov at [email protected]

Description of the hosting organization

City Station

The “City-Station” is an institution which belongs to Berliner Stadtmission and deals mainly with poor and homeless people. The volunteer will probably work during the opening hours which is at night or during morning hours if he/she is more interested in the preparation work for the evening. He/she will serve food and get in contact with the guest which is very important. The volunteer should be willing to work in other projects to get to know other people and other things. For example the “City-Station” has a project called “Länderwoche”, where they cook food from other countries. They also get to know the other cultures and lifestyles. It would be really nice if the volunteer could teach the others something about his/her country for example the food, the culture. The “City-Station” has also free project work where the volunteer can create his/her own project, be it a photo project, a choir, sports project, etc.
