The “CHAD: Countering Hate Speech and Hurtful Speech against Diversity: Roma, LGBTIQ, Jewish and Migrant Communities” is a two-year project launched and carried out by RGDTS Nonprofit Llc., Budapest Pride, Haver Jewish Informal Education Foundation and Political Capital with the aim of enabling the participating organizations and vulnerable communities to take effective action against intolerance, racism, xenophobia, homo- and transphobia, and discrimination. Within this, one of the set goals is for the participating organizations and their communities to learn about the forms and effects of discrimination against other groups, and to become sensitive to them – to recognize and get the tools to act against them.
In the initial phase of this project, between September 23-25, 2022 we held a joint team-building and cross-sensitizing weekend. Colleagues and volunteers of the organizations participating in the project were present at the event – among the latter, those who also participate in monitoring hate speech online. Our invited guests were the coordinators and volunteers of organizations representing and working with minority groups. The purpose of the weekend was for the participants to get to know each other better, each other’s circumstances, as well as to learn about and from different communities, thus increasing their empathy and solidarity towards each other. The purpose of the joint learning was also to strengthen the cooperation between the groups to prepare the joint work ahead of us. As part of the weekend, we also reviewed the experiences of the online hate speech monitoring that started a few weeks before.
The team arrived at Székely Villa in Leányfalu early Friday evening; after the joint dinner, we spent the evening with team-building games.
On Saturday, Political Capital and Budapest Pride presented themselves, then we discussed the experiences of hate speech monitoring with artificial intelligence expert Gerzsson Boros. Our guest was Kata Bognár from the Menedék Egyesület, who held a workshop on refugees for the team on Saturday. After lunch, Szilvia Szénási, the manager of the Uccu Foundation, together with one of their volunteers brought us statements about the Roma, which we discussed and debated together, and thus we could learn about the misconceptions and stereotypes about the Roma. Before dinner, we got to know the history of Phiren Amenca and their projects, and then deepened our knowledge about the Roma through various interactive activities. On Sunday, volunteers from the Haver Foundation held a session about the diversity of Jewish identities, then Mária and Zsolt, volunteers from Melegség és Megismerés, told us their own stories, and led interactive games on the LGBTQI topic.
We spent a very meaningful and intense weekend together. The fact that we went through many topics and issues together, thereby getting to know each other better, will guarantee that further joint work will be smoother and more meaningful.
Csapatépítő és kereszt-érzékenyítő hétvége
A „CHAD: Countering Hate Speech and Hurtful Speech against Diversity: Roma, LGBTIQ, Jewish and Migrant Communities”, magyarul „Kisebbségi csoportok a gyűlölet(keltő)beszéd ellen”, egy kétéves projekt, melyet az RGDTS Nonprofit Kft, a Budapest Pride, a Haver Informális Zsidó Oktatási Alapítvány, és a Political Capital közösen indított el azzal a céllal, hogy a résztvevő szervezeteket és sérülékeny közösségeket képessé tegye az intolerancia, rasszizmus, idegengyűlölet, homo- és transzfóbia, illetve a diszkrimináció elleni hathatós fellépésre. Ezen belül az egyok kitűzött cél, hogy a résztvevő szervezetek és közösségeik megismerjék a más csoportokat érő diszkrimináció formáit és hatásait, és érzékennyé váljanak azokra – felismerjék őket és eszközöket kapjanak ahhoz, hogy fellépjenek ellenük.
Jelen projekt kezdeti szakaszában, 2022 szeptember 23-25. között közös csapatépítő és érzékenyítő hétvégét tartottunk. Az eseményen jelen voltak a projektben résztvevő szervezetek munkatársai és önkéntesei – utóbbiak között azok is, akik az online gyülölet(keltő) beszéd monitorozásában is részt vesznek. Meghívott vendégeink voltak az egyes kisebbségi csoportokat képviselő, velük dolgozó civil szervezetek munkatársai és önkéntesei. A hétvége célja az volt, hogy a projektben résztvevő személyek jobban megismerjék egymást, egymás körülményeit, valamint tanuljanak a különböző közösségekről és közösségektől, ezáltal növelve egymás iránti empátiájukat, szolidaritásukat is. A közös tanulás célja volt a csoportok közti együttműködés erősítése is, amely előkészíti az előttünk álló közös munkát. A hétvége részeként áttekintettük a néhány héttel ezelőtt megkezdődött online gyűlöletbeszéd-monitorozás eddigi tapasztalatait is.
A csapat péntek kora estére érkezett meg Leányfalura, a Székely Villába; a közös vacsora után csapatépítő játékokkal töltöttük az estét.
Szombaton a Poltical Capital és a Budapest Pride mutatkozott be. Ezt követően Boros Gerzson mesterséges intelligencia szakértővel a gyűlöletbeszéd-monitorozás eddigi tapasztalatait beszéltük át. Vendégünk volt Bognár Kata a Menedék Egyesülettől, aki szombaton menekültekkel kapcsolatos workshopot tartott a csapatnak. Ebéd után Szénási Szilvia, az Uccu Alapítvány ügyvezetője, és az alapítvány egyik önkéntese romákkal kapcsolatos állításokat hozott nekünk, amiket közösen megvitattunk, és így tanulhattunk a romákkal kapcsolatos tévhitekről és sztereotípiákról. Vacsora előtt még megismerkedhettünk a Phiren Amenca történetével és projektjeikkel, majd különböző interaktív feladatok során mélyítettük el a romákkal kapcsolatos ismereteinket. Vasárnap a Haver Alapítvány önkéntesei tartottak foglalkozást a zsidó identitásokról, majd Mária és Zsolt, a Melegség és Megismerés önkéntesei mesélték el nekünk saját történeteiket, és további interaktív játékokat játszottunk az LMBTQI témában.
Összességében nagyon tartalmas és intenzív hétvégét töltöttünk együtt. Az, hogy sok témát és kérdést körbejártunk közösen, ezáltal is jobban megismerve egymást, garantáltan gördülékenyebbé és tartalmasabbá teszi majd a további közös munkát.
