Voices of Resistance Campaign 2020 – Csaba from Hungary

One day before the Romani Resistance Day, let us introduce you Csaba, a young Roma man from Hungary who shares with us his thoughts about the importance of accepting ourselves as we are, regardless the prejudices against us, and never give up achieving our goals:

“Hello everyone, I’m Csaba Oláh. The Roma Resistance Day is important to me because it reminds us all that we should never give up. Unfortunately, due to the prejudices against Roma, many Roma see their origin as a disadvantage, a shame. They measure themselves and others against the values of the majority, and as a consequence they never feel that they are good enough. It’s only us who can change this. I want to convince as many people as possible that our Roma origin should not limit us in achieving our goals and becoming successful.”

Special thanks to Csaba Oláh! The ‘Voices of Resistance’ online campaign invites every young Roma to testify their own resistance stories! Through this online campaign we want to empower young Roma people to share their good examples of staying active in such difficult times of crisis as well. Stay tuned, watch our videos and be part of our online resistance!

The Voices of Resistance campaign is part of the Roma Youth Voices Project, coordinated by Phiren Amenca and funded by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme of the DG Justice, European Commission.
