In this video we introduce you Oliver, a young Romani man from Slovakia sharing his story about resistance:
“Hi, my name is Oliver! From an early age my parents led me to be proud of being a Roma. I was never ashamed of it. Many times in my life, I have resisted. For example during school discussions where classmates didn’t know that I was Roma and talked very unpleasant things about Roma people. But when they learned that I was a Roma who did not fit into the pattern of prejudices they had, they changed their minds.”
Special thanks to Združenie mladých Rómov / Association of Young Roma! The ‘Voices of Resistance’ online campaign invites every young Roma to testify their own resistance stories! Through this online campaign we want to empower young Roma people to share their good examples of staying active in such difficult times of crisis as well. Stay tuned, watch our videos and be part of our online resistance!
The Voices of Resistance campaign is part of the Roma Youth Voices Project, coordinated by Phiren Amenca and funded by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme of the DG Justice, European Commission.
