The Phiren Amenca coordination team is responsible for maintaining unity among the network members and in fulfilling our mission of combating antigypsyism through voluntary service and intercultural dialogue. A vital member of this team is the executive director, who oversees the smooth operation of both the larger organization and the team.

About Phiren Amenca
Phiren Amenca brings together organizations and young people in the field of voluntary service and youth work. Our network creates opportunities for non-formal education, dialogue, and engagement between Roma and non-Roma youth. Through international youth mobility, training programs, and advocacy work, we combat prejudices and racism while building a more inclusive Europe.
Position Overview
As Executive Director, you will lead Phiren Amenca’s core programs including international voluntary service, capacity building for youth organizations, and advocacy initiatives starting May 1, 2025. Hybrid work arrangements are possible but maintaining a regular presence in Brussels is expected.
Key Responsibilities
A. Program Leadership
a) Oversee the implementation of volunteering programs and youth exchanges, and support member organizations in developing mobility programs;
b) Guide the development of training programs on antigypsyism and human rights education, and lead European-level advocacy initiatives, particularly in youth and Roma-related policy.
B. Financial & Operational Management
a) Manage EU-funded projects, particularly in the fields of youth mobility and education;
b) Apply & manage sustainable funding for the network.
C. Network Development
a) Strengthen cooperation between Roma, non-Roma youth organizations, and European stakeholders;
b) Expand the network’s impact in promoting volunteering and Roma youth participation.
D. External Relations
a) Represent Phiren Amenca in European youth policy processes.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrates understanding of Roma youth issues and antigypsyism in Europe; Experience with European youth mobility programs and volunteering; Strong background in project management, particularly EU-funded projects; Excellent financial management and budgeting skills; Fluent English communication skills (both written and verbal); Proficiency in standard office software; Ability to travel regularly to Brussels or to any other countries when needed.
